The world over, when top-shelf mountain biking destinations are discussed, Crested Butte almost always heads up the list. Remarkably, most of the classic trails in the Crested Butte area weren’t created with fat tires in mind. The classics like 403, 401, The Dyke Trail and the Reno, Flag, Bear complex were all on the ground and being plied by hiking boots, hooves and motorcycle tires long before the mountain bike came into existence. Not that the trail network we enjoy today has always been in place, the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association (CBMBA) has worked tirelessly for nearly 30 years optimizing the riding opportunities at the north end of the Gunnison Valley. Don’t ever pass on an opportunity to check out the trails of the Crested Butte area.
