The 2009 Growler  Series – the Fall Events

The Growler Series races/fun rides feature lots of singletrack and are for experienced mountain bikers. Typical trails used at Hartman Rocks are Jack’s, Josho’s, Josie’s, Rocky Ridge, Collarbone Alley and Top O’ the World. The Long Course may also feature Rattlesnake and/or The Ridge Trail, usually regarded as two of the more difficult ones out there. Remember, with good judgment, any portion of a trail can be safely negotiated by getting off of your bike and walking.

Race times for Fall 2009 are still being determined. The days are getting short and we go deep into October. Start times will be posted soon so check back.

Entry fee is $15. Fast Long Course times are usually 45 minutes to an hour. Competitive and non-competitive mountain bikers are encouraged to participate. It’s only a race if you want it to be. If you’re not racy, start at the back, take your time and enjoy a well-marked tour of classic Gunnison Valley singletrack. Great times afterward, too.

Courses: A different mix of trails for each race. Races typically start and finish up Jack’s trail (and Collarbone Alley to finish!)  The main course is called The Long Course and Long Course categories are Sport and Expert. A Short Course is also marked, just a short-cut version of the Long Course. Short Course is its own category; no sport or expert.
